Holiday Season Appliance Tips

With Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, cooking ramps up big time and so does the demand for Ranges, Ovens, and Dishwashers.

If you suspect your appliance’s temp control is off, here’s what you can do:  Purchase an oven thermometer, install it in your oven according to the package directions  and preheat the oven for around 30 minutes.  Record the highest and lowest temperatures for three complete cycles — from cold to hot three times.  With the dial set at 350˚, if your oven has a low temperature of 325˚ and a high temperature of 375˚, then your oven is working properly.

Check your oven temperature. Purchase an oven thermometer, and preheat the oven for at least 30 minutes. Then record the highest and lowest temperatures for three cycles. If you have an oven that has a low temperature of 325˚ and a high of 375˚ when the dial is set at 350˚, then your oven is working properly.

If the calibration is off by 25 degrees or more, you may have an oven control, thermostat or sensor problem, requiring replacement parts.  If that’s the case, give us a call at 765-491-3487.
